adding loaches to a tank with loaches

Post by CoolEEazy » Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:50 pm

hello all i have a burmese border loach and a striata loach in a 55 gallon tank with various tetras, a pair of cichlids and some rainbowfish, i notice the striata (which is much bigger) always chases more like playing with the burmese border loach, they've been in the same tank for 7 months now, no harm no foul, i was thinkin of adding 2 more loaches possibly 2 more burmese border loaches could i do this without a problem??? and if so are there any other loaches i could add that would be harmless?? thanks for ur help

CoolEEazy,

both of your loaches are best tended in groups of at least 3-5, so it would be adviseable to add more botia kubotai or striata to your tank than to add another different loach species. You will see much more of the funny "loachy" behaviour this way, too! :D

If you don't want to add more than a few loaches, I would suggest 2 more kubotai and 2 more striata.
