He is stunning! Looks like he's one of the gang now
I still can't get over that lone Modesta of yours. He's a handsome devil that seems to fit right in also!
Congrats on the new acquisition. Beautiful as always!

Your fish all look beautifull had healthy. BTW, how are your nitrates?
My story is similar to Emma's. I got my oldest Botia in the fall of 94 and currently He (she?) is the smallest about 7 inches (TL). It has been outgrown by all my newer clowns, even the baby one I got about 8 years ago. My largest, about 27CM or coming up to about 11 inches TL, that I have only had for about 9 years was quite large when I got it. She is now Matriarch in the group.
Edited after watcing the VDO... From one of the pic, I thought Bigbotia was a female but from the VDO, it looks like a male.

120 gallon planted aquaponic tank with 10 clown loachs, first one since 1994, 1 modesta and 3 striadas.
I could not see the Modesta, not sure I did. I did see Marcos VDO taping though.

Marcos, seems that Bigbotia already has claimed the top in pecking order as he pecks away at the smaller clowns while eatng. Hopefully he does not peck at the Modesta when it is in it's active eating season Modestas sure retaliaes when pecked on too much.

And now Mr. Big Botia sharing it with Modesta:
Concernings my nitrates it stays now at about 30 - 40 PPM. Doing 20% WC every 2 days.

Some news on that wood shared by modesta and Mr. Big Botia.
Today, after a regular WC, modesta went out to pick some food. While she was out, Mr. Big Botia went to wood as it´s owner. Ouch!!!!
Modesta went back to let him know who rules there:
They start a fight:
Fight occurred in rounds, like a boxing fight so, I made 2 short videos of it:
Round 1
Round 2
At the end modesta won the fight showing that size is not the only thing that counts!

Hi guys,
Who wants to see new pictures?
I took a few pictures today. Also made a new movie available on my signature.
Mr. Big Botia is very happy with lots of friends together. He seams to have grown a bit. This albino Cory on first shot is 6cm TL. PVC pipes are 10cm diameter:

I can't imagine the reaction a visitor to your home must have when seeing that tank for the first time. It really is gorgeous!

Ty Kate,
When he came in he stood still right in front of this tank and said nothing for about 5 minutes, after what he looked back to me and exclaimmed:
"This is a Loach tank indeed!"
In fact, lots of people who comes here get impressed with nunber and size of my clown Loaches.
Two weeks ago I was having some trouble with my spine (aching a lot) so I couldn´t cary buckets to WC. I called an attendant from a fish shop to do my WC.I can't imagine the reaction a visitor to your home must have when seeing that tank for the first time.
