TinMan 10.0

Post by Tinman » Thu Sep 06, 2007 10:20 pm

I upgraded to a 2 h.p. pump external that moves 140 gallons per minute at a 40 foot head on my system last weekend. We are past 72 hours and all is much improved visually and activity level is increased substantially. I also doubled my sump ,added a top sump also and added two new style bio-stacks in that above built in milk crates making my beds deeper as opposed to flat beds to increase waters time "on " the filter. My sump is now 2 large rubbermaid stock tanks or 200 gallons US or 750 liters. This is one of the last incarnations of my system . I used a Pentair Super Flo 2 horsepower pool pump with an upgraded motor. It is drawing 9.4 amps on each leg 240 volts, fully 2/3rds my air conditioner draw and this is 24/7.I will now need more heat also as the pump is outside my sump. I may blow heated air across the filter fall to heat as opposed to more electric heaters. This is version TinMan 10.0
