feeding hillstream loaches

Post by worton » Mon Sep 17, 2007 5:01 am

Hey,

I wonder how you guys prevent food from floating all over the tank in you river setups :).

I know it is silly question but in a tank with much less current I have some trouble with feeding bottom dwelling fish like Hara :)).

Regards.

I don't prevent it. Just throw the food in the tank, it goes all around the tank and the fish go berserk :) The hillstream loaches seem to have great sense of smell, everyone comes out of hiding seconds after the food enters the water. I've seen Gastromyzon's and Sewellia's catch food floating by.

I try to put the food to the side of the powerhead or in a low current area behind driftwood or rocks. In one tank I turn off the powerhead temporarily.

make a paste of edibles. paint it on a rock placed out of the direct flow. they will come (and some of it will fly but much of it will stay on the rock for grazing) 8)
books. gotta love em!
