Fastest growing loach

Post by Rocco » Thu Oct 04, 2007 11:51 am

Just out of curiosity, which botia would you guys say grew the fastest?

All things like feeding and water quality equal.

I know clowns grow slowly, but what about the others?

I agree that from say 1 inch or thereabouts to 3 inches the Botia almorhae will grow in a astonishing rate. I've also witnessed the Botia histrionica growing at a alarming rate but not alike the Botia almorhae's tendencies.

I also would say YoYo.

In the last 5 months, 4 out of my 5 YoYo grew from 4-5cm to about 13-14cm. Smaller one is now about 10cm.

Yoyo --- but the caveat is that it is among the species we know about. It is quite possible that some other species, even one that many people keep exhibits even faster growth in the young age, we simply don't see very young specimens.

What is the growth rate for a young kuhli, for example?

Hey,

histronica can grow from about 2.5cm to 8-9cm in about a year. It is also personal experience.

Regards.
