To me she is the "Frank Zappa" of punk. I was watching a video of her and my seventeen year old says, "Who's that?" He too was mesmerized.

One more.

Sue Thompson - Norman

Sue was 37 when she sang this 1962 pop song. Remembered it yesterday and never knew she was so old back then.

Time for some more.

This is really strange, and it was really strange when it came out - the same week as Tom Waits' Swordfishtrombone. An amazing and weird turn in American music with Laurie Anderson's O Superman.

And Mach 20 by same. Excellent viewing:

Who knew this existed?

Frank Zappa working with the Ensemble Modern prior to the Yellow Shark recording and shows... Fantastic. IMO, Yellow Shark is the greatest achievement of American music in the 20th century. You get a taste of it here:

This video keeps getting taken down, but it's Queen. Here's a very good hi-fi version. Great song, but horrible video - sometimes vice versa. That this song mattered at all makes the entire decade of the 80's seem lurid for some reason.

Let's just hope that federal politicians around the world keep steering clear of rap.
