Ah, yes... Completely brutal. This is what video is good for, even if it's not called for.

You asked for it, MacDonald!

You just know that I'm going to offer some more of a-ha's brilliant works, don't you?

This is one of my favourite songs of all time - "Manhattan Skyline" recorded in 1987: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jHVcchG3l0 (if anyone is actually reading/watching, I should warn that this video contains a lot of strobe lighting).

"Lifelines" (2002): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u63lgD4pcM This is not only a beautiful song, but the video is particularly impressive. It is based on a Norwegian short film called 'A year along the abandoned road' from 1991 which was directed by Martin Skallerud where he used a specially developed nature animation technique. The end result shows a whole year passing by in one shot at 50 000 times the normal speed.

"Analogue" which was released in 2006: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fN-IurtmpQ I probably shouldn't let out such a big secret, but I've spotted Mr Robson tapping away to this in my car on a number of occasions!

But, you know, a massive amount of good stuff is still not available on youtube. *grumble*

Shakespear's Sister. These 2 singers (Siobhan Fahey & Marcella Detroit) were fabulous together. I miss them:

The classic moment from The Orb, Little Fluffy Clouds. The sample is taken from an interview between LeVar Burton and Rickie Lee Jones. She apparently tried to sue them and settled out of court. Great song, though.

And this is just so clever it's worth inclusion. I find the song a little cheesy, but it's not a bad version.
