Re: Stiphodon genus from Moluccas
Hi Storm337!
That is Stiphodon imperiorientis
https://www.google.co.jp/search?q=Stiph ... e&ie=UTF-8
Hi karimli!
Thank you for sharing many splendid your pictures.
I'm very interested in the this super green green stiphodon.
Did you find the difference with S.semoni besides the body color?
For example the difference in the numbers of the scale and the tooth.
Furthermore,I have more doubts in S.rutilaureus in the Moluccas.
All S.rutilaureus of the Moluccas looked like immature individuals as far as I knew it,
did you see the adult one there?
What do you think the species of Sicyopterus which you watched in north Papua?
Hi sj861008!
To tell the truth I missed the Youtube link in the end of your last post.
Your water tank has abundant adherent algae and is very attractive.
I have yet watched only 2 individuals even in Stiphodon imperiorientis.
Of course I have not seen Stiphodon niraikanaiensis.
The person who has seen it because it is extremely rare is only several people.
Because the Kuroshio Current flows by Japan various fish drift from the south.

Hi Gobyonekenobi!
Thank you for sharing splendid pictures of your goby fish.
It is a very bright water tank.
When an alga is grown so that white sand will become green immediately, Stiphodon will be to be glad more.

Hi Odessy
the Stiph. Rutilarus I found in Muluku size around 2.5cm-3.5cm . and I am sure they are aldut, as I told u at the begining, that river very wired, all stiphodon include Stiph Semoni and very small, looks like other types Semoni. I also found Stiphdon Rutilarus in north of Pupua, same size like Maluku, and for sure is adult, By the way I have imported around 1000pcs Stiphdon Rutilarus from Maluku, all size are the same, I think there are some different Between the S.Rutilarus which u found.

Re: Stiphodon genus from Moluccas
Hi karimli !
Or it may be "Neoteny".
Because the design of the body of both is similar very much, I thought it to be an immature fish of S.rutilaureus.
Is there the ichthyologist clarifying the difference of both?
By the way, I'm sorry, the meaning of the word "wired" is unidentified as far as I checked it.
Is it a meaning "thin stream"?
I'm looking forward to many pictures of your partner.
It is a male of S.rutilaureus which I saw in Australia.
I think the size of the body to be around 5cm
It is a male of S.rutilaureus from the Maluku archipelago.
Female of S.rutilaureus

I regard that this individual is a female of S.rutilaureus in Maluku islands.

If S.rutilaureus of the Maluku archipelago is an adult fish, I think that S.rutilaureus from Australia may be another species.karimli wrote:Hi Odessy

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby
Hi everyone, first of all i want to thank all of you for the great pictures that are being shared here!
But i need to know why my Stiphodon atropurpureus are not colouring up.
I have had these for about 3 weeks now and they eat repashy and graze algae.
I think they are doing good because they behave normal but they just dont look that nice even though i think they do fine.
The only Stiphodon species in my tank that really gets color is my 2 young male percnopterygionus.
I want to share some video's i hope you enjoy them and could give me some tips.
I just hope some of you can confirm that it is the atropurpureus. And maybe why they dont color up.

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby
Hi, odyssey
Thank you for all your knowledge and it help me too much.
Yesterday, I found 2 kinds of stiphodon in Vietnam- Ho chi minh local stores call " red neon and blue neon gobies" . I figure that those gobies are not regular fish for almost aquarium tank, I can't find them in another fish stores . There are no information for taking care , habitat, food or environment. However I start searching something on this site and found you. It's very appreciated.
I own pare of Stiphodon atropurpureus- blue neon goby and it seem like they can adapt my 130l tank. I try to create nearly nature habitat for them.
A lot of rocks and strong stream are helpful to them for hiding. Algae is big challenge for me because I only have 20W fluorescent and it's not enough for growing algae so keep feeding blood worm. Hope those fishes enjoy my tank.
I also send my respect for people who share information of their gobies, I learn a lot from all of you. Thank you.

Stiphodon elegans in Tahiti
Hi everyone, it's been a long time.
Actually I traveled to Tahiti in July and took many pictures and video clips of Stiphodon elegans.

Stiphodon elegans male (Standard type)
The bluish white spot on the black body is impressive.
Stiphodon elegans female (Standard type)
There are many individuals with a red pattern in dorsal fin.
Stiphodon elegans male
(The back fish is Sicyopterus pungnus.)
This individual may be a young male
There seems to be a red type in male's marital color. There were several red type male.
Stiphodon elegans female
There is a female with no red pattern on dorsal fin
A female with an unclear striped pattern is also there
Water temperature was 26.4 degrees Celsius.

Palawan Island in the Philippines
Hi everyone!
I will share the annual Stiphodon expedition report.
This time, I visited Palawan Island in the Philippines at the beginning of May and visited three waterfalls.
First waterfalls is a relaxing water playground for the locals.

https://youtu.be/EczacYz9Un8
Stiphodon palawanensis, which Dr. Maeda has announced as a new species, is also found around children playing in the water.
https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... Sicydiinae
There are also many Rasbora everetti
I was also able to see Lentipes.sp in the fast flow area.
https://youtu.be/r_PPRT6W_18
There was also Rhinogobius.sp.
https://youtu.be/KLFaEvaa0DM
There was huge size Sicyopterus.sp in the waterfall.

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby
Hi I hope you're fine?
Since I became a caregiver in a retirement home, I don't have much time for my passion. It has been a long time since I have come to the forum.
Although I take care of my group on gobies on facebook, I come to the forum to share my experience.
I have old gobies in my tank. For the moment I am not trying to retry the breeding of Stiphodon larvae.
I revive the subject about of Stiphodon.
Looked at this image on the Sicyopterus pugnans, it has a yellow form and a blue form as in Stiphodon percnopterygionus ...
I wonder if diatoms of Tahiti would not have the same food base as on the rivers of Iriomote Island.

Besides, this subject caused a lot of questioning in me.

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby
Hi! I am new to the forum and this post caught my eye.
I am very interested in finding gobies such as stiphodon, sicyopus and sicyopterus that could be bought and shipped to the US. I am struggling to find aquariums which sell these and other amphidromous gobies. I am wondering if you all have groups which you recommend joining that might have the resources to find these and ship them in the US. I am particularly interested in these species that have that beautiful pelvic sucker.
I am interested in these gobies that can climb and really any fish that can stick to substrates like rocks and glass... so any leads on loaches, clingfish, etc that adhere to substrates would also be appreciated. Thank you.
