I picked up 6 of these a couple of weeks ago, they dont appear in shops that often around here so thought I would grab them while I had chance:

Great fish arnt they, arnt they known as B. fasciolatus now? never knew which was the correct name. I have a group of 8 I've had them for around 2 months the males have really coloured up nicely. I keep them in a heavily planted tank but are still rather shy and are difficult to photograph. heres a pic of one of my males

Yeah Barbus fasciolatus is the accepted vaild name now, but both are still used as far as I know.

Very nice male you have there, mine are in my sidthimunki tank and do seem quite outgoing now after a few initial days of hiding.

correct sir, theyve been known in the trade for many years as barilloides to all of us which was a wrong ID.
thanks for bringing it up, for the life of me i couldnt remember the proper name. lol

Nice fish ! Its a shame African Barbs are so rare in the hobby :!:

It's a shame they are African at all :)

Such a shame I can't use these beatiful fish in a Loach biotope.

They are very rare in Holland as well, so great find.

Good luck with them.
