Loaches Online Forum

There are many brands out on the market but, was wondering which one you guys prefer? I am going to be using it to provide some current for my loaches, they are presently in a 100 gallon tank. Any opinions or input would be much appreciated thanks in advance!

these Koralias seem pretty good. Heaps of flow, don't block up (much) and, in theory, not to thirsty (electricity). I bought 2, (a #2 & a #3) but so far am only using the smaller one.

I have several Aquaclear in addition to a Marineland. All work well.
The nice thing about the Aquaclear units is that the flow is adjustable.

Aquaclears every time. I have some that have run almost constantly for over 8 years.

Koralia. Less blockage, more flow for the watts, and the flow is more diffuse, not a strong jet.

All im looking for something for them to "play" in hehe . So probalby the aquaclears but, they are kinda pricey... Which model for a 6 foot tank? the 110? or 70's good? Thanks for the help! I have both a Koralia 4 and the AC110 in my 6' long tank. I set up the AC at the west end, aimed parallel to the front glass and the young Clown Loaches would surf the current. Sometimes relaxing and allowing it to carry them almost the full length of the tank, then swimming up into the current again and again.

They could not do this with the Koralia, as this one is aimed behind some rocks along the back of the tank in hopes of keeping the debris from accumulating. My Black Ghost Knife hides back there a lot.

Modifying the power head as in the link provided by Martin really dose work, and is very easy. Make sure you put a sponge over the intake, though, and keep that sponge clean. The coarsest sponge that will stop the debris will allow maximum water flow.

Good idea! Would of never thought of doing that... I'll go and try out the ac110. YIPEE maybe getting another 125g! Sorry had to say it, just to happy
