Pearl or purple danio?

Post by Sharkscott2 » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:38 am

I purchased 17 danios under the name pearl Danios a few days ago. I thought they were mislabeled and were really purple passion danios. But after looking at some pictures and looking at the fish I have I'm not sure what they are.

Does anyone know how to tell if a fish is a pearl or purple passion danio?

Hi Sharkscott2,
I take it that by 'Purple Passion Danio' you are referring to Danio roseus? This link might be helpful:

Purple Danios

Hey there,
I saw a tank full of purple danios the other day; they really do have that violet hue on their bodies. I didn't see much of anything else on them..that probably is no help at all but I do know that they are STRIKINGLY shimmery purple :)
