What is this growing in my tanks?
Hi everyone,
Haven't been around for a while, I moved house & successfully moved my fish as well!!!
Can anyone tell me what this sticky lacy stuff is that is growing in my tanks? it is on the plastic plants and also in the filters, it doesn't seem to harm the fish at all just looks unsightly.
Thank you,
Val

What color is it? Some algae and mosses can be lacy, but I am not sure about sticky (I have not had any sticky algae in my tanks)
Is it really growing, alive? Or could it be slime coat, shed from irritated fish?
How about eggs of snails (gooy blob) or frogs (I just had a nice hatching of frog eggs in an outdoor aquarium)

38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.
Happy fish keeping!

It does look like a small grey coloured lacy moss. I also have these very tiny white things on the glass which seem to move, I've got it in both my goldfish tank and my tropical tank.

Tiny white things on the glass could be a couple of different things.
Hydra grow a bit larger than 'tiny' and look a bit like a miniature anemone: Perhaps 1/2" long, mostly tube body, has tentacles at the top.
There are a lot more things it could be, too.
