Why does my female stiphodon gobies change colour?

Every so often this happens. And suddenly they'll go back yo normal. They also exhibit different behaviour whilst in this other colour phase.

Many fish communicate with each other via color changes. These color changes can happen rather quickly.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Thankyou for replying. That's interesting to know, perhaps by changing colour it is expressing an 'emotion' (I say emotion, not a literal one but a fish one if that makes sense)?

Edit: this may be a bit random but (if you have one) do your fish like to play in the airstone? I've found that if my gobies stumble into it they like to stick to the glass and sit in the bubbles or go up and down in the bubbles.
