Post by Toothpik » Mon Jan 12, 2009 5:38 pm

hi...yesterday I couldnt resist so i bought a 6-7in clown loach....i starte my 90 gallon tank and everything so i can put it in but until then my 55gallon is acting as a QT....but heres the thing he looks healthy swims around and such but doesnt eat all the other loaches ate the same night they were put in so...is there anything i should worry about? just give more time right? right now im treating all the loaches for skinny disease and ich :) everyone is out and about no signs of stress good breathing....ammonia is 0...nitrate and nitrites are 0 :) ph is at a steady 7 so everything seems in order
currently-90gallon-5 rummy nose tetra,9 clown loach,3 rainbow fish, and soon 10-15 cardinal tetra.

try feeding some frozen bloodworms after lights out. hang around in the room with a little ambient light and see if he goes for it.

I will by no means agree with these kind practises. It's wasn't wise to get a new fish then put it in a community tank that is being treated for various parasites.

I don't think you understand what quarantining is. It's to prevent disease outbreaks by isolating those that may be infected. What you did is called cross contamination and what you created is a hospital tank, not a quarantine tank.

I also don't understand how you have 0 Nitrates. Nitrates should accumulate and should not be 0. Are the tank and filters properly cycled?

I wish your fish the best of luck.
