Lost her during the night. :( I will work on the main tank to hopefully not repeat this again. Really terrible to lose her.

Just so you know, I had added the double dose of Maracyn I and II and a total of 1.5 teaspoons of Epsom Salts dripped over a period of 12 hours.

I still have never successfully treated a fish for an illness. Simply terrible.

I'm so sorry she didn't pull through :( At least you know you did everything you could, and she had a good home.

Sorry to hear this, I was hoping for a miracle. Dropsy symptoms usually have no cure. You caught it on time and she didn't die in the main tank though. Quarantining sick/ill fish is the best thing you can do for the rest of your fish.

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate the support. I am so sad.

I have been sitting in front of her main tank, and I am trying to figure out how I would know there is a problem with this tank. All the Clowns keep coming out and sitting in front on me. I wonder if they are asking where their friend is. I think I am now down to 4 Clowns. Sigh!

I have looked at every fish in the tank, and they all look great. No one is breathing hard. The water is clear. No one is hanging out at the top. I checked everyone's whiskers (loaches, cories, catfish), and they are all long and beautiful, no one has torn fins, no clamps fins, . . . My plants that are not being eaten, are growing. My Farlowela is chubby!

I feed a wide variety of foods. My fish fast at least once a week.

I have two bubblers, and my filter drops water 2 inches into the tank.

If my tank was so unhealthy that my Clown developed dropsey, wouldn't my other fish be showing signs of distress? I am not missing any fish.

My rasboras and tetras don't feel a need to school.

I will continue doing water changes daily to make sure I have no nitrates.

If fish deaths are random or arn't epidemic, there is usually nothing you can do about it.

I had a 5+ year old kuhli loach that died a few months ago. I pulled her out of the main tank because she looked bloated and could hardly swim. In the q-tank she died within a few hours. None of my other fish have been sick though. It's just old age sometimes. It's the price we pay for keeping them in fish tanks I guess.

I jinxed myself. Augh!

Now I have a loach that is spinning in the water. I changed out 27% of the water, added a double dose of Prime, and I rinsed the filter cartridges because they were restricting flow. I caught the fish, put it into a hatcher with the top open and put it under the flow of the filter. She is breathing hard.

I added the power head and it is pointed in the direction of the hatcher.

I was hoping that restricting movement and turning the lights off would keep the fish calm, but it is bumping into the hatcher. I was hoping floating near the top under the filter flow would increase oxygen.

I am so stressed.

sorry to hear.
Do you have any test kits to check for water parameters?

This is peculiar... Any fish with symptoms, take them out of the main tank.. There might be a virus floating around.

I didn't notice this post from earlier-

It's possible all this is related. Have you tried Prazipro yet? If the problem is internal parasites, then Praziquantel might help.

Levamisole and Flubendazole treats Nemotodes/roundworms

Praziquantel treats Trematodes/flatworms

My fish supplies are so limited here, but I saw I can get Prazipro online. Is there Praziquantel in the Prazipro?

Today my spinning fish appears to be under control. I will continue making small water changes this week. I hate putting fish in quarantine, because I seem to lose them within two days. But I certainly don't want to lose my tank by putting my other fish at risk.

I do have test kits, but since I have been using Prime, my test kits don't give accurate results. I went to the Seachem website so I could buy the test kits from them, but they do not sell direct. So I went to their local vendors, and none of them carry products outside of Prime and maybe a pH or cycle type product. Augh! I will do the chem tests just for fun today.

im no pro, but that happened to my loach while i had a filter crash. and it appeared to be bacterial or viral and i couldn't figure out what it was. the loach died and i lost half my tank.

i believe most symptoms i found were that of oodinum. or velvet.

the loach was also restless and would swim non stop the entire time.
All your loaches are belong to me!

Yes, Prazipro has praziquantel in it. It's a very popular med for worming fish. It's at most petstores, like Petsmart, Petco, and lfs's .

Easy on the water changes Tanya, too many is as dangerous as not enough, let that filter work and watch your ammonia. Slow down a bit...Too many is very stressful...Buy a TDS meter or I will order you one if ya need ,it can tell you if you need to change your water simply. ChefKeith got me started on these,it is amazing how much more sure I am with this 30.00 tool.
