Ich

Post by Barb » Sun Jan 04, 2009 3:58 pm

Cleaned my tank today and noticed ONE ich spot on one of my clown loaches an hour or so ago. It isn't there now. What meds should I use and if I don't use medications, how high should I set the temperature to kill the ich? No other signs of anything in the tank on any of my other fish.

one spot? Ich? Are you 100% sure there are no other spots? I don't see why you should treat for something that may very well not be present as the stress caused to the fish is tremendous.
Could the spot have been a gas bubble or a grain of substrate?

What temp do you run your tank at now? What other fish are in the tank?
So many species of fish yet so little time, space and money to keep them all...

Agree with Doc. I've seen similar on my fish and had the same reaction. I think if it was ich it would have hung around longer. Keep an eye on them for a few days.

Thanks, I think I'll do that. After reading the Ich Sticky, it sounds like the cure is as bad as the disease. Thanks again.
