What is wrong with my Severum?

Post by FishyLady » Fri May 08, 2009 12:58 pm

Hi,
I have a large Gold Severum and over the last couple of months he has developed lumps and bumps all along his back at the base of his dorsal fin. in places they even look sore. He is eating fairly eagerly but not swimming around as much as he did, just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be. I can't seem to find anything like it anywhere!! :o

Google Lymphocystis.

Is he with other fish that might be nipping him?

Fish do get various tumors, could it be some sort of growth like that? The tumors can be internal (and just show up as a lump, usually on one side but not the other), or in the skin and muscles and show up pretty distinctly.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Thanks Diana,
No he isn't with other fish now, he used to be in with silver dollars but he was such an awful bully to them I couldn't put up with it and took them out.
