My brave clown loach

Post by ConnieTam » Tue Oct 20, 2009 11:17 am

Anyone know how long can a clown loach live after she got bloat (dorspy and pop eye)??
Day 21...today is day 21.
My poor clown loach is still fighting in this battle.
Day one to day four,I treated her with Epsom salt.
Day seven to day thirteen,I used tetralysal 300mg and Amycin 500mg
Day sixteen to day eighteen,I used Octozin.
At the very beginning, the clown loach's body sudden become fatter within two days with tha fact that one panda cory found disappear at the same time.
Her pop eyes had begun on day fourteen.
How can my CL eat nothing during these 21 days and hide in a cone all days.
What a brave and strong clown loach!!
I love you,fatty,my clown loach.
I don't know if I can cure you.I know you don't want to die.
Promise you I will try all my efforts .
Try all my efforts to keep my fish happy.

So she has pop eyes, too....AND the bloat
maybe she is hiding in the cone because her eyes hurt...I hear it is a good idea to keep fish in a dark environment if they have popeye, since the light is uncomfortable, but there are others on the forum who are MUCH more experienced than I.
If she is not actively suffering, maybe she will recover with time. I guess you could systematically go though all the infectious possibilities and treat them, but then, you may kill her with the "chemotherapy". A lot of changes may just stress the fish more, when it is already badly stressed. I do not know of an immune booster other than garlic (but she is not eating) or levasole ( which is hard to get).
You have tried a number of meds to treat all manner of illnesses.
I wish I knew more to help you. I know how hard it is when you really get attached and cannot think of the next thing to do.
Sometimes, less is more...maybe she will recover with time, REALLY good water quality and a luck.
Please keep us posted.

You can get Kyolic liquid garlic from health food stores. This will dissolve in the water, so your clown will absorb some without eating.

I hope your clown gets better.
