Help with growing alegae for Hillstream loach

Post by Lance-Hardwood » Mon Mar 29, 2010 4:32 pm

I read the Martin's webpage on glowing algae and tried the "secret ingredient" as well  . I did get something that looked like an algae bloom, the water turned green and the rocks were covered by a thin green layer. However, I find it odd that the layer of comes off when I touch the rock, it wasn't slimey at all and quite smelly.

I also had a container with just fertilizer, the rock had small algae growth.

The only fertilizer I had available was my wife's orchid fertilizer, I'm not sure if its safe though to grow algae for fish, can anyone confirmed that for me?

Haha okay! I'm thinking about growing some algae as well, might try it soon. By the way, Easy Life Profito gives us green spots on the glass. Maybe a slight overdose of that will do the trick?
