Dwarf Chain loach very sick!!!

Post by fishkeeper5000 » Fri Feb 01, 2013 12:39 am

I originally had 4 dwarf chain loaches. one went missing and another one is very very skinny. His head is bigger than his body... I moved him to a hospital tank. I thought it could be "skinny disease". But mostly what i have ready is when a fish has skinny disease they are still active and eating. My loach will not eat and he's not active he just stays in one place. I bought some parasitic medication and gave him some, API general care. I am just wondering if anyone knows how would I know for sure if it is a parasitic disease or something else. Has anyone else experienced this ?

IT sounds like "skinny disease" to me. In later stages the fish can become lethargic and stop eating.

Skinny disease is basically a massive internal parasite infestation, so anti-parasitics are the prescribed treatment. Levimisole HCL is the one that seems to be preferred by most loach keepers on this forum. Here's a helpful link:
