compatabillity advice required

Post by raving_wayne » Sat Jan 17, 2009 6:53 pm

hiya folks was looking around in the LFS today and came accross 2 Garra flavatra, Panda garra, i have found out they are not actual loaches altho stated as a loach, but i cannot find hardly any info on them, would these be ok with my botia loaches? or hillstreams/weathers, as i think they are a lovely looking fish and would look great in one of my loach setups

Lots of us keep or have kept them wayne.

I'm intending to write up an article on them which we'll include within Loaches Online as so many people are getting into these and thinking they're loaches. It makes sense for us to have a good reseource of info available to them. Graham's breeding success will be included.

in that case im so glad i put them in my Q tank out the back of the shop yesterday, ill pay my neighbour for them today, apparently they are pretty hard to get over here as my neighbour has never had any before in the 20 years hes been trading. but hes gonna do both for me for £15 which looks to be a very fair deal to me. ill post some pics once there Q is over and they are in my 450litre loach tank.

thanks for the advice folks

They should be pretty easy to get a hold of, most stores should be able to order them if they don't have them in stock. 2 for £15 sounds about right :)

They are not that easy to get here either. After the first one it took 8 months before they were on a stock list.

But 2 for £15, its like 16,60€! I payed 20€ for one, £18, so 60€ for 3. :D

If not, here's a list of stores on Tropical Fish Finder that have this fish listed on their stocklists:

Keep the tank very well covered. They're great escape artists.
