Best Y. sidthimunki price ever!

Post by Martin Thoene » Sat Dec 26, 2009 12:55 pm

Dropped into a local Chinese owned shop today and saw a dozen really cute and healthy 1" TL Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki going for CDN$3.99 each or 3 for $10.

I have never, ever seen this species so low priced anywhere.

Martin.

That is so low there is something wrong. Maybe as simple as mis-identification on the shipping list or other related mistake.

I have never seen them under $12 USA, and this was a group buy, organized by an aquarium club. In the stores they are starting to come down from the $20 each that was common a couple of years ago, but nowhere near 3/$10!

Happy fish keeping!

We got ours for $8.99 each, but they are awfully skinny (have lost one of 12, the rest are fattening up quickly, though)

I can't believe that price! But adding up the gas to get up to Toronto..... :(

Sure, there was something wrong. They were labelled Botia sidthimunki ! But that's all. No, they were beautiful specimens, obviously well fed and healthy. I bet I could have scored the dozen for $35......but I'm not in the market for that species.

I found sid's on a Swedish shop's page, and they wanted like $15 for one, so you've found quite a deal!

When I first got into the fish biz, the import price for these was about .20 which made them a .99 retail item. Of course that was more than 30 years ago. :)
