So, I just spent the last 2 hours going through all of the posts in this thread. Lets just say your tank has evolved so much since you started in 2007. I would love to have a tank dedicated to clown loaches. They are my favorite. I had 3 in my tank but my heater broke last week without me realizing and one of them died. Unfortunately one of the two left wont come out now. I am currently looking for a couple to replace the dead one but waiting for a shipment at my LFS. Thank you so much for providing us with pictures and videos of your great tank!

Hey djbutterflyx,

Thanks for the nice words. I really apreciated! Image

In your case I would buy a trio to have at least five. They will do better in bigger groups.

Trust me, I'm going to :D Even though I got those 3 at the same time and they were always together. Like I said one of them wont come out of hiding now that one of them died! I am just glad it wasnt Spot (hes got a spot on his side, similiar to the one you have) Also, I always wondered why they called them clown loaches until I got some, they clown around a lot!!! Like I said, they are my fav fish... it was a huge loss to lose one of them and I actually cried over it since I work so hard to keep everything right in the tank and I had finally just gotten my nitrates under control and to lose one of my babies, it was a hard hit! Especially since I had seen them grow from 2" to 4" in a little over a year! I really hope that one day when I have a bigger place I can have a tank dedicated to them just like you! Thanks again for posting your progress and showing us your beautiful tank full of my favorite babies

I love the sneaky clown that grabs the food and hides with it.

What is the orange sucker mouth fish. He looked very intent on his work. :)

That new tank looks great as do you loaches. I love the spotted "stretch marks " on the big clown!

That´s my Chinese Algae Eater. Very effective against brown algae.

Thanks Nancy, Tanja and Keith!

I thought he looked like a Chinese Algae Eater. Is he well behaved? They have such a bad reputation. I wish they were better behaved, because I think they are really neat fish.

I have read a couple reports that they use to grab and suck mucus of slow fishes like Discus but I never see them doing that. Yes, I do have another CAE at the Discus tank.

I have heard reports of far worse inuries. Maybe you have the well behaved ones. I think they are neat fish, but I don't have the right aggression level in my tanks to balance them.

as usual, your clowns are very beautiful, marcos! :D
anyway, I have a 200l tank and I wanted to introduce 5 clown loaches and 2 yoyos. is it ok to put loaches together with angel fish, rummy nose tetras, rainbows and siamese algae eaters? the loaches are small ones actually.
THX.. :D

For this time yes, but have in mind that Clown loaches will grow up and your Tetras will be put in risk at that time. No problems with the rest.

This one is pecking fight between #1 and #2. Looks like there will be an inversion in the order:

ok.. I will consider that.. :D
one more question, do loaches like to do fin nipping? for instance, to angel fishes with long fins?
thank you, marcos! :)
