loach pyramid
new addition to the tank. 3" pvc pipe. left out the center piece and dug a hole in the sand. i always pile the sand into mounds and dig holes in the tank. the loaches like to sleep in the low areas. its like sand mountains. also the tiny little crease between the 2nd tier pvc pipes has a striata snoozing in it. just not a good angle.

That's a great paramid. I need to make one for my fish some day. Post some more pictures.
Re: loach pyramid
I love it! What did you use to glue the pipes together?
Re: loach pyramid
PVC cement will work for that. Non toxic, once it sets up.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.
Happy fish keeping!

Re: loach pyramid
aquarium safe sealant available at home depot. i had to glue it in tiers. so the bottom three glued first. then the middle two glued first.
after that dried, the 2nd layer was glued to the first layer and then the single tube at the top was glued to the 2nd tier. so 2 days to construct. then i let the fish get oriented with that pvc pipe after i cleaned the tank. i left it for a few days. then decided they really needed more space to cram so i removed the middle tube and just pulled firmly and used a knife to pull back some of the dried sealant. then put it back in. every time i clean the tank i dig a hole a little deeper in the center portion. they really like it. ill put more pics up. also got more pics of all my rostratas. they finally came out all at once. i guess their timing during the day is when im at work. so being the weekend they were out. the clowns definitely party from 3am till about 8am. these rostrata seem to be more active during the day. but ive caught them swimming non stop at nights for the first week that i had em. they have since calmed down and learned to beg for food lol..
the rostratas love cucumber but won't touch zuchini. ive fattened them up a good bit but am waiting for them to grow about another 1/4" before i put em in the big tank.

Ohhh, I LOVE it!
I think I'll steal your idea, if you don't mind.
...and those rostrata are very pretty!

Re: loach pyramid
its still a hit. the bottom middle hole actually has a few clowns piled on top of some striatas but they are burried.
if you look closely, the very small middle hole where the 3" pvc pipes meet, there is a striata sleeping in there. i count 11 but i can zoom in better on the picture i have on the computer.
