Finally got Dwarf Chain Loaches
Hey Loach Lovers, I finally got some Dwarf Chain Loaches Botia Sidthimunki
They are about 3.5cm ( 1.5 inches )
They are still being shy, sometimes I see them schooling,
but by the time I get my camera, there is only one, if any
I have them in my S.E. Asia Cyprinid tank ( Tiger Barbs, Odessa Barbs, Brilliant Rasbora, Siamese Algae Eater, Red Fin Black Shark, Bala Shark )
The gravel looks pretty coarse, but it only looks that way, since the loaches are dwarfs
In the tank there is some Malaysian hard wood, Anubias plants and one spiky plastic plant that the loaches like to sit in.
I will try to get a photo of them lounging in the plant

Hey, that's great. You will love them. How many did you get? What size tank are they in? They are one of the more active loaches you can have. Lots of fun to watch.

Nice. How much did they cost? I was going to buy them but they are pricey.
You wouldnt have that problem with a V8
Re: Finally got Dwarf Chain Loaches
The tank is a 3 foot long 35 gallon.
I got 6 of them, there was a price break at that quantity, less than 6 was $13 each and 6 or more was $11 each ( 1 Canadian dollar is about 0.98 USD )
I would have got 6 anyway, they are a schooling fish

How are they getting on? (@zenins)
Don't want to create an unnecessary stir but those fish in the photos look like they may need some treatment for parasites if they aren't fattening up. Sometimes they get skinny in transit etc but they do have that `look' about them with the bump on the crown of the head where the body diameter seems to decrease moving back from the head/gills (it shouldn't). In the first photo, in the reflection of the fish, you can see the belly pinched in behind the pectoral fins.
Compare to the plump critters in the linked video further down and you may spot the difference right away.
I just posted in the Interesting Clown Loach Markings thread and mentioned a similar `look' there, but discounting my own concurrent dwelling on the CWS matter, my past experience with sids would tell me to nip any skinniness in the bud.

Re: Finally got Dwarf Chain Loaches
I am so jealous. Last time I bought them they were $17 each. I can't find them now.
Re: Finally got Dwarf Chain Loaches
NICE!
I crave some of those! They can be expensive here (since I have to order online to get anything remotely different)
They were $19.99 then $20 for shipping!!!!
I love the video of them schooling together.
I am cycling a tank now to isolate/treat a new batch of fish that I hope to add soon. Now you have me interested in these little guys again
(hmmm..... maybe I need ANOTHER tank )
