Salt treatment experience for clown loaches.

Post by squid »

Hi,

Would like to get your opinions/experiences on salt as treatment for clown loaches?
Actually, I have some arowanas with my clown loaches . I've noticed my arowanas shedding slime, I'm planning to dissolve salt in a bucket, and dose into my tank at 1 tablespoon per 10 gallon.
I've read different opinions on salt usage. some use salt for ich, while others say not to use at all, Any experience with salt dosage of 1 tablespoon per 10 gallon? maybe to be maintained for 1-2 weeks?
I've read that they don't tolerate salt, and i've also read that salt can be used to treat for ich?

thanks.

Dissolve the salt in a small container of water and add the salt slowly over several hours. Or even slower.
For example:
Day 1: 1 teaspoon per 10, added over 8 hours.
Day 2: Ditto
Day 3: Ditto
At the end of day 3 you will have 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons.
If at any time the fish show they cannot handle it, do a water change, and figure out some other treatment.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

I've had nothing but positive experience with salt treatment. 6 years ago I had a massive ich issue and had no luck with chems. Salt and raising the temp did it for me. No complaints.
