I don't know what to do!?

Post by winthrop » Tue Nov 12, 2013 3:19 pm

I recently added new fish to my healthy tank and something happened. I think it was an ammonia bloom because it killed my almost two year old angels, and a catfish, several tetras and two hatchet fish. I made the mistake of adding the water in the travel bag of the new fish to my tank.
Anyways, I think that is back under control. I haven't lost anymore but now I think my clown loach has Ich and possibly several others. I added two Tbsp. of salt per 5 gal. to my tank last night (I have a 20 gal.) and turned up my temperature a bit this morning. I read about giving my clown loach a salt bath but I don't know how, plus I think the other fish have it too.
And I am not even sure if it is Ich. I have talked to my fish store but I still need help. I am new to this. Any help I would greatly appreciate!
Thank you, Eli

Hello Eli,
Until someone more able to help arrives...
It shouldn't be too difficult to know whether your fish have white spot or not. Have a look at these pics to see if you recognise the disease; https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ich+f ... 52&bih=584
If no one can help here quick enough you can go and buy some treatment from the shop. You'll have to buy something anyway.
Hope you can sort it out soon.

Thank you so much! My poor loach does not look happy. Based on these pictures I think it is Ich. And this is what some of my other fish look like too.

There are so many kind of energy resources. It depends on their choice to using each of them. It is important to choose right one since the first time.

There are many good threads on the health forum on Ich/White spot. Have a read through those, and it should give you good information. I know for sure if you buy ich treatment it needs to be for scaleless fish (like your loach) so that the treatment doesn't harm them too much. I have also read that starting at half dose minimizes the risk to loaches. But read the related threads on the health forum.

Good luck!

QueenBee,

don't waste your time here: this is an old thread, resurrected by a spam post at the end.

How is the other QueenBee doing?

Oh thanks! I didn't know that happened :)

She is good! We have started referring to her as "her majesty" as a nickname. She is tucked away most of the day, but man does she assert her presence in the mornings! Gave her frozen daphnia for the first time this week, she (and the denisons) went absolutely nuts over it. She always eats with a lot of gusto, but I think I might have found her favorite. She is used to getting frozen bloodworm as well. She isn't begging yet, but I hope this will change once I add more loaches.

She is most active in the mornings, is this odd for loaches? From what I have read they come out mostly at night.

How are your guys doing? Everyone getting along?

I'll reply later (middle of something) but check your PM, possibly something interesting for your single loach problem.
