Large (> 4") Clown Loach Source

Post by xmas_dude » Mon Oct 29, 2018 5:01 am

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a trio of large (>= 4") clown loaches. Looking for quality stock with bright colors. The stock in my LFS is usually small (<= 2"). Does anyone know a good source of large clown loaches in the US?

My suggestion is to try asking on Monsterfishkeepers.com in the loaches section. Also look on facebook.
6 x Clown Loaches all 30 years of age on 01.01.2024, largest 11.5", 2 large females, 4 smaller males, aquarium 6' x 18" x 18" 400 ltr/90 uk gal/110 US gal. approx.

Yeah, you sometimes see posts on mfk as redshark said. Divers Den on Liveaquaria sometimes has 4.5-6" ones but they are really expensive. Like they want over $100 a fish. Compare that to their 2.25-3" ones that goes for $69.99 for three. That price is good for two week guaranteed fish that have been put through a quarantine protocol.

If you happen to be near Chicago, this place had a busy vh bigger in the 4-5" range for $30-50 each:

If you happen to love by Seattle, Aquarium Coop can get the really large 10-12" inch loaches. Cory mentioned it in a video about his 800 gallon and there's a YouTube video that a customer posted of him picking up a bunch of those.

Aquarium Coop doesn't ship fish and I don't think that Chicago store does either.

Deals do pop up on MFK market place from people getting out of the hobby or moving. You just have to check it regularly and hope to get lucky
