Some Guy Said: Instead of all this very childish whining and name calling why don't all of you contact neo and give him some sound advice?

___________

Yes. That would be much more reasonable than coming in here, on your first post ever on this forum, and suggesting how a group of people you've never met should comport themselves and what their course of action should be. Much more reasonable indeed. ;)

And I sort of agree with him to some extent. Some people go way overboard with their fish.

However that tank of his is hideous.

As far as I'm concerned, most of the people on Monster Fishkeepers just turn the hobby into an aquatic p*ssing contest. This guy's just trying to up the ante.

I find it all quite childish actually.

Martin.

i think you are the childish one. monster fish keepers is for
those of us who want to go to bigger and better fish. basically you guys either need some porn or women or just worry about your selfs. bunch of internet P*SSYs

Or a blatant disregard for most of the above.

jealous you dont have the money to do things like that is what this whole thing sounds like

Ok.... Wow... Alright...
Well,

No we aren't jealous of poorly planned overstocked aquariums, which are commonplace on monster fish keepers...

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... 1162466833

Like that for example...

There is a difference between a nice big 250G tank, with a reasonable number of fish in it, of any size, and abhorrid things like that where everything's smashing into everything else, nothing has space to rest or to hide or to display its natural behaviour.

There is a difference between keeping something alive and keeping something properly.

http://pets.webshots.com/photo/12071197 ... 3847xUxfFr

Here's another one.

Bare bottom, bunch of loaches, cowering in the corner...

It IS a pissing contest for these people. Their photo lounge is subtitled "after you upload your photos you can show them off here"

You yourself came in here and said "oh well you guys must be jealous"

If I could afford 300 gallons, 25 oscars 38 clown loaches 30 tinfoil barbs an ID shark and 52 datnoids, I still wouldn't do it, because its stupid.

While you guys are at it, why not put stickers on your tanks that say "This tank ain't the only thing that's massive around here ;)" as seems to be the case from you guys' photos and attitudes towards fishkeeping...

For those of you who don't understand 14 year old internet troll, allow me to translate this into more easily understood vocabulary:

Hello. I'm 14 years old and I have lots and lots of money which I haven't really learned to appreciate the value of, nor do I wish to. I have a six hundred gallon aquarium in my basement and the wheels on my car cost as much as the car did. Since I'm so much cooler, richer, and more worthy of existance than any of you middle class trash and your tiny little middle class aquariums, I thought it'd be fun to come in here, insult a man four times my age who I've never met and say he's childish, and call you all a bunch of fools. I'm going to go swim in my pool of money now. Ta-ta.

Ahhh. You poor soul-less rich kid you...

We upload photos of our fish for many reasons, occasionally to show them off, sometimes to see if they are acting properly, to compare growth rates, patterns, environments, feeding notes, to show eachother our fish's antics, to augment our knowledge of fish species and their propagation... etc etc

Oh- and when we do 'show them off', we don't rub them in other people's faces. There's a difference between saying "hey check it out man I got that new car."

and

"Ya... 473 ft lbs of torque my friend... Bose stereo.. ... Yup. Had those chrome 20" rims put on there after market... $14 000, but nothing's too good for my baby"

Nic. I'm sure there's some absolutely fantastic people with healthy fish in excellent setups that are on that website.

I cannot be jealous of something I do not aspire to. HAD I the money that some of these setups must cost, I would use it to create something that was pleasing to the eye, took into consideration the fish's natural environment, and stock it in a reasonable manner that allowed room for the fish to grow substantially.

The most I would keep in a 180 gallon tank is the Clown Loaches or maybe two (only) Datnoides. Which means your statement about them being moved when necessary means he needs 25 x 180 gallon tanks NOW for the Dats.

Personally, I'm not interested in the Dats, so that leaves the Clowns who would live in a sand bottomed tank with multiple hiding places provided by rockwork, driftwood, etc and I would grow plants on the driftwood, so as to provide the fish with the security of shelter which is one of their basic needs.

It's not about jealousy, it's about ethics of animal husbandary.

And the mere fact you even mention anything to do with the money involved shows me exactly where your priorities lie.

We're not going to ban you for speaking your mind. You're entitled to your opinions as much as I am to mine. I think you can see though that you're up against somewhat of a wall of resistance here because most of us here happen to have more consideration for our fish's total well-being than just giving them clean water in a glass box.

I think that paragraph is what's known as shooting yourself in the foot :?
It just reinforces my original statement which I stand by. Thank you for the confirmation of what were only my suppositions.

Martin.
Image Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
