Dancing in the Moonlight

Post by Emma Turner »

A couple of evenings ago, I took a few short video clips of my large clown loach family interacting under the blue moon lighting. These were taken at about 1am, with just the central portion of the tank lit by the blue light. As a result, the video clips are rather dark, but you can see how a big group of these fish interact naturally in the semi-darkness:

(As usual, please turn the sound down when viewing as my camera makes horrible noises as it constantly refocuses).

You can see one of the smaller specimens shadowing Marge for a short time in this clip, although it is not really a good example as this usually goes on for much much longer and often with more than one fish:

Unfortunately Photobucket takes away a lot of the quality, but hope you all still enjoyed them.

Also, here is a picture I took yesterday of Marge after she'd been scrapping with Stripes around the back of the tank. The war wounds have already pretty much healed up:

A fantabulous series of videos
Taken, under the dark Crowland skies

These are really excellent vids Emma. If you can't sleep you could do worse than sit and watch these guys. Those barbs sure got big too

Thank you. :D

L.O., no that's not the clowns clicking, it's my camera refocussing (hence why I said to turn the sound down :P ). They do click pretty loudly when they want to though.

Great video's. I've never tried shooting a video with the moonlights on. I'll have to try that someday.

Thank you everybody! :D

Most of the time I was filming, they didn't know I was there as I was at a sufficient distance away and the room was unlit, so most of what you saw there (except when I got really close up to them) was this big group of clowns behaving naturally. 8) They love bumping into each other and actually feeling each others presence.

I did have another good vid from this bunch, but half way through I fell over backwards when trying to stand up from a crouching position and, although I recovered quite well, the film went shakey for a bit!

Thank you Emma. After being out of town for a week, catching up on the Loach Forum has been a lot of fun, but your videos have been a very special highlight.
