Leicester to Peterborough is spitting distance along the A47. You HAVE to go visit, but be prepared to view every other shop as inferior afterwards. The price you pay :D

Oakham is half-way between Leicester and Peterborough so you'll be even CLOSER 8)

As an idea of scale, Rutland water itself (on left) is around 4.5 miles long. Note Tinwell, SW of Stamford 8)

Cool, yes you have to come and visit and meet the crazy British LOL contingent, Tinman!

Oakham is indeed quite near to us, in fact, the nearest M/A branch to us is in Oakham, Rutland. Rutland Water itself is very popular with birdwatchers: http://www.rutlandwater.org.uk/

Next spring i wants us to meet up for a UK loach hunt. Camping for a couple of days with catching loaches from the local little rivers around your area. Sounds good?

Sounds excellent, but only if you promise to be on bug eviction patrol. Can't be doing with any bugs of any description in the my tent! Not that I've actually got a tent. :?....

Don't worry about the bugs, modern tents are now well sealed to stop those critters. Plus i'll carry a spare can of ultra hold! :wink:

Yeah and also the Cobitus taenia. I read reports of these chaps living in your local waters. We will have to study which river system first but still worth it.

I Goggle Earthed it and looked up were the store is myself after posting that. Thank You, Yes I will go by there for sure. I have no more room for fish in my system so being able to go shopping and not buy is actually a treat. I would love to meet up and see real live fish geeks other than myself in person 8)

Tinman it would be great to meet you. would you let us know the dates you are in Oakham, and we can get something worked out? meeting other fish geeks in person can make you feel a lot more normal :D

an indoor loach meet combined with book launch party in november followed by loachy camping in spring sounds great. we could probably find some interesting water critters to photograph too. it would be good to find a site with not too many nettles so that we could go swimming too.

well if there are 10 people in a fish shop and they are all fish geeks, then the person that walks in that isnt a fish geek is the odd one out, so we must be normal :D
