I think the OP is long gone from here. That was opened in 2009.
They like their water especially warmer than the general tropical fish population.
Fran, just a mention that they actually do not like their water as warm as originally thought. Current research points clown loaches optimum temperature is 26C.(78.8F).

I think a researcher should have kept clown loaches for quite some time before writing a "research" paper on clown loaches husbandry, and even then it is very difficult to do....It seems the OP didn't go for that topic in the end.

It seems many people are still under the assumption that clowns like warm water even for the solution of warding off ich.

I guess we need to look back to their native waters and see what they are living in the majority of the year.
