Looking superb
So many species of fish yet so little time, space and money to keep them all...

Thanks all! :D
I'm still not getting the best pictures (although I'm having fun trying out different lighting conditions), but here's two more.

I've been practicing with taking pictures and moving the wood around a little. Slightly bigger picture this time.

try taking a picture without a flash, if you dont have a tripod, position the camera on a couch or table to minimize blurriness

Thanks!
I'm using the flash because I haven't got the lights in the tank yet, so if I take a picture without flash it will turn out very dark. But I hope to put the sand in this weekend and if I can find some nice rocks I will (hopefully) be able to fill the tank for the first time. Then the lights will be in too and that might make things easier as far as pictures are concerned.

Thanks Andre! You almost got the dutch perfect, but aquarium is 'aquarium' in dutch as well. We just pronounce the 'q' as 'kw'.

I have the sand in now. I don't know what's normal, but it's about two inches of sand and looks okay. A little bit too much like a beach, but I'll go hunting for nice stones and such this weekend.
Two of the lights are up too and I can manage to make pictures without a flash....

I think it needs water though.

On the filter side glass is something called a "pp" background normally used on the back glass. Don't know what the "pp" stands for, it was cheap and did the job of hiding the filter.

It may well be "aquarium" in Dutch but in Afrikaans is "akwarium". Yeah maybe we are 400 years behind

Afrikaans is Dutch! Archaic Dutch slightly mixed with German, French, Indonesian and polluted by English.

The Dutch ij became y and Z's became S's and CHT's became G's but otherwise you would easily communicate in SA.

Tot siens

Interesting Andre. I always thought it was similar, but never really knew how much.

Tinman, I want to try and create a tank that looks a little like the natural habitat. At first I wanted to try and create a mangrove like tank using a different type of wood, but the natural habitat seemed a wiser choice.

These are some of the pictures I use as a reference...
