I have returned

Post by CraigM »

A new job, a new place and a new tank.

Some of you know me as Botia Junkie on another popular fish site. Some of you know me as a rabid loach fan.

Martin, Jim, I have come back to the loach world. I won't be able to be as fanatic as I was in past. (IOW, no river tanks.) But my heart still adores and loves loaches.

I just recently was able to get a new tank set up here in my apartment in Houston Texas. I have a fully planted weed bin that houses 5 cherry barbs and 6 adorable skunk loaches.

I'll get pictures up one of these days after I get a new camera, for now you will just have to use your imagination.

Craig

PS, I'm a far piece from Lafayette Indiana now...

Welcome (back)!
Why does my aquarium always seem too small?

Oddly enough Jim, the fish shop I found here in Houston has a familiar name.. Aquarium World.

I do still keep in touch with Doug back in Lafayette.

People can say what they will; fate, destiny, call it what you will. I'm happy with them. Clean tanks, people that do care about fish and at least one or two folks that know loaches.

Although I did have a bit old farts disease when I was getting the skunks.. I kept mentioning modesta when I know better..

Into loaches? Ahem, that goes without saying.

Are there any better, more personable, intriguing fish to be had?

The people here in Houston that I asked about fish stores thought I was nuts. I was spoiled, I could get what ever I wanted and it was a few blocks away back in Lafayette (Indiana NOT Louisiana [for those not familiar with geography]). Every one of them had a repeating mantra, "Loaches, what are those?" I got lucky one day asking about fish places and someone mentioned the shop here..

Imagine walking into a fish store and seeing one complete wall (yes, WALL) of tanks stuffed full of nothing but live plants. I walked out of there (after paying for my stuff) with a nod that meant I will be back. And I was a week or so later with a lighter wallet.

Now I just need to get my own house. Do some creative plumbing....
