First, I'm back! Haven't been able to log on since 2006 (edit: 2011) due to some strange security protocol if password is lost. Anyway tried again tonight and the reset PW worked so good to be back. Hope some of you still here??
So I've lost all my loaches except for one of the original ones I purchased in 1994 ish. Its still alive and kicking. Well swimming. I have no exact proof when I purchased it but have photos and videos throughout the years. Anyway doesn't look like it would die anytime soon and I'm not sure if they normally live this long so I ask. did a search and saw Emma's old loach too. Anyway, when I bought it, was a little over 2" as I recall and I estimated it to be around 2 yr old then. can't confirm that though.

No matter, if you have a fish from 1994 then you have the oldest fish I know about. I bought mine in Jan 1995.

Thanks. Totally spaced the convo. Seems maybe this is a duplicate thread lol. Anyway how many you have remaining? I'll try to post a pic of my old guy. Looks just normal, not a wrinkle. Only thing I see is its eyes have a slight whitish glaze over them.

To my surprise all six that I started with are still with me. I was told they would live ten years.

I don't consider myself expert or especially gifted, but I do put living things first before other activities and I am consistent.

I still have the 70s tank and equipment I started with like undergravel, T8 lights etc.

The biggest threat I faced was Whitespot right at the beginning when I didn't know what I was doing but I got over that with no losses and there's been no other issues since then.

Never seen skinny disease or any of the things people complain of.

That's very good. I lost the rest of mine from that wasting away disease. One by one. Never more than that. Made me think there was just one parasite that jump from a host after it died. This also included the modestas.
