Hi all.

I got African goby from Cameroon recently.
A sale name is African stone rock goby (Cameroon).

Similar goby as Sicydium crenilabrum was found on the internet.
The habitat information is also identical, so it seems probably of the same kind.

It's for the first time that I saw Sicydium genus.
The appearance was compared with 3 species of Sicyoputerus genera that I'm raising.
The upper left of this picture, Sicydium crenilabrum The upper right is Mountain rock goby (Sicyoputerus.sp1)
The lower left is Sicyoputerus.sp2 from Indonesia(S.lagocephalus??). The lower right is Rainbow(Stiphodon.sp)and Sicyoputerus japonicus .

It's difficult to find the clear difference only by the appearance.
There was also a thesis of the DNA analysis by which Sicydium genera are Sicyoputerus genera, Stiphodon genera and sicyopus genera, etc..

I have to second that - very nice fish and great pictures! Do you have a manual focus? They are so clear!

Hi starsplitter7 ,yaksaredabomb.

The focus adjustment which is at the time of macro photography is very severe.
Fishes have not been stationary for a long time.
There is no time when I'm adjusting the focus slowly.
The focal length always makes the neighborhood minuter by photography of holdings.
Therefore I rarely use a manual focus.
I take pictures continuously often, and a good picture is picked out while checking them by a PC later.

The following picture is an example of taking photographs continuously.
The picture which may be compared after photography in this way is chosen.

A hand blur correction organization of a new mode is be equipped with by my digital camera.
Its function seems effective at the time of macro photography.

The Hybrid IS is designed to improve stabilization performance at closer subject distances,
particularly for macro shooting which can be difficult for conventional image stabilization technologies.

Thanks for posting your technique! I've often been trying to get a picture in focus and wished I had a manual, but I'll bet you're right and it would be way too slow - my fish always seem to be on the move too.

Hi Hokum!
My present worries are that I don't know their gender.

The African species seems to have a slightly less pronounced nose.
But It is amazing how much they are alike.
Hard to believe they live a continent apart.

As usual amazing photo's...
I do use more or less the same method, click away and pray :)
Let the PC sort them out, alltough my camera is not as good as yours.
