Hood or tray..or neither?

I am about to move my fish from a 2.5ft tank to a 4ft tank.
The 4ft tank has been used for my terrapins and they have the clearseal open tank.
The terrapins have been using the Fluval 405 external filter and I intend to use this for the fish(emptied and cleaned thoroughly first - with new filter media which has been added into their 2.5ft tank with them atm ready to be added when I move them to the 4ft).
I intended to get a hood of some description for the 4ft, but it needs to accomodate the fluval 405 input and output tubes. I already have an attachment for a tubular light bulb that I can suspend from the top of the tank. So, how can I use a specialist hood?
Could I feasibly use just a condensation tray? But can I suspend the light underneath the condensation tray?! Or can I simply leave the tank open and keep the water level a little lower?
I originally thought that this move to a bigger tank would enable me to finally get some denison's barbs...but, have decided to increase my cories instead.
I have 2 x otocinclus' (please know, I realise numbers are low on various tank members and will be rectifying this with the move ); 1 x 3 lined cory (re-homed to me); 7 giant danios; 4 blue tetras; 2 x pygmy cories; 1 false SAE; 6 chain loaches and 3 x japonica shrimp.
Thank you for reading/ your time.
