hi all,
first, let me thank you for past help as I am new to clown loaches and so very glad reading your older posts to find the '' clicking" noise is actually the clowns and NOT my glass breaking! I had been reading about many of your loaches clicking when excited or fav food and finally my two clowns just started a few days ago-glad to know they are happy. My question is can I feed them the canned mini shrimp (used for salads) ,can I toss a few in the tank as a treat once in a while or will the shrimp mess up my tank water? Other tankmates are common plec, and platys.
Usual food for community tank is flakes, Hikari veggie tabs, shrimp pellets, dry shrimp( look like skeletins-wonder if nutritous, but they love 'um), fresh veggies (zucchini, brocalli, and pumpkin so far). Sorry for long question, but want to get it right for the clowns , named Hocus and Pocus cuz they dissappear before my camera clicks and show up on opposite side of tank -like magic! _________________ cider |

Yes, you can feed those shrimp. I feed grocery store shrimp, and other shellfish (canned in water, not sauce, or frozen). Offer very small amounts and see which fish will eat them, and how much is reasonable. This is definitely one food that you do not want to have drifting around in the tank un-eaten.
I skip the cocktail sauce, though. _________________ 26 tanks, over 3000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

thanks for your replies about the canned shrimp..and yeah agree about holding the sauce funny. However, this a.m. I noticed a few while spots on one of the clowns and I fear it may be the dreaded ick.
The spots are symmetrical , three on each side of his snout area , graduating upwards--they are so symmetrical on each side that it's throwing me off whether it's ick or not ..but I know those dots were not there before and not on his buddy's face. So for now I gotta hold off on the shrimp, and figure out if I gotta medicate..ughh. My aquarist told me I must begin med as soon as I am sure, obviously, so I will keep checking him. I've noticed many of you have been through this already and much info on this forum for treatment choices ,so I'll have to make a decision and be ready if need be. Thanks again everyone, good to know you are here and willing to advise. _________________ cider |
