OK I have been through the loach ID and I have an idea of what kind it is but cannot find one with the exact markings, can anyone help?

Superb looking specimen!! 8)

It looks similar to the Vanmanenia cf pingchowensis or a Vanmanenia of some sort.

And I wants one of those. :wink:
Did this fish come in as a contaminant?
If so, what did it come in with?
That might help with the ID.

No I wasn't joking about the pics. sometimes a better picture helps identify the specimen. It came in as a contaminant but with some hillstream loaches that I had posted a few days ago......something totally different.

So this chap came in with the Sinogastromyzon wui you got the other week. Most definitely the Chinese Vanmanenia cf pingchowensis.

Yes Jim I was looking at that picture. That one seems to have nicer markings but probably is the same fish.

I am just curious why you say that. Do these fish come from the same region?

Yes. They both come from the Xi Jiang River in China.
