Just how common is this deformity?

Just how common is this deformity?

Remember the deformed clown loach I posted about a short time ago? (http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=12801) Last night I was astounded to find that we had a Botia almorhae with the same defect:

Again, this fish is very lively, interacts with the others and eats well. It's also another wild caught specimen, as these Yoyo came in direct from my Indian supplier.

I have never seen this deformity in all the years I've been a loachaholic, and now we have 2 in the shop (different species) at the same time.

I can't actually decide if I think that's really cute or really ugly!

I know what you mean. It's like a pug or a chow.
So he can't eat like his bros and sis... His mouth is pointed straight ahead.

Your post made me think of a goldfish on the goldfish forum. Even the mouth/lips.

Wouldn't you then expect to see more like this from the same catch? And remember one is from India, the other came from Borneo.

No? So if there was something in the water... you would only expect one fish to appear with this deformity :? That hardly makes sense.

I can't decide if its ugly, or just so ugly that its cute :lol:

Whether he's ugly or cute, he deserves a good home, just like the Clown. :)
