Aquarim Salt and Loaches?
I was just wondering if DoJo's should have aquarium salt added to the tank? I also have platties and guppies and 3 frogs. A lady mentioned that I should be adding aquarium salt to my freshwater tank, but I asked her if it would hurt my dojos or frogs and she did not know. Should the salt be somethin...

Thanks for the info. I am going to stop by the fish store sometime today and talk to them. I have my doubts if they would know wha tto do, but we will see. Plaaye, I hate to say this, but I still can't find the article. Heck I can't even find the main page. :( Are you referring to the Freshwater For...

Melafix medication?
I wrote to Dr's Foster and Smith about my problem I have been having with my fish. I have lost several fish over the past month. I described the symptons and he thought it might be a bacterial infection, which it could be and he suggested using Melafix. He thought it would not be harmful to the Dojo...

Thanks you guys for the info. I don't recognize the camallanus on any of my fish. However what Diana mentioned could be part of the problem. I am going to try to go by the feed store tomorrow and check out the Levamisol, if they carry it and they should. Even if they don't have worms the Levamisol w...

Worms
Can anyone describe to me what worms look like when they come out of the anus of the fish? I know usually I see some running around with a long string that is probably poop, but how can you tell the difference between the 2. I have an issue going on with my fish, and maybe what I thought was a trail...

Thanks Diana for the info. Gosh this is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack, especially for a newbee. :( I will definitely try the food for parasites. The clout I willl leave alone. I don't want to do any more damage to the fish. I can probably buy the Levamisol. I think you mentioned yes...

I am at a loss
I lost my golden Dojo yesterday. It looked like it was very heavy around the middle etc. I also lost my male betta a couple weeks ago, and 2 weeks before that I lost my female betta. All 3 of these fish had the same symptons. Very bloated around the middle. They all looked like they were pregn...

Diana, No I have not wormed them. I will call our fish store to see if they have Levamisol, but I highly doubt it. I live in a very small town, and they don't carry a whole lot of fish aquiarium meds etc, other than food, and some supplies etc. If I might ask, how is Levamisol administered? I will g...

Golden Dojo not doing so hot
I have 3 Golden Dojo's that I dearlly love. I noticed yesterday one of them does not look so good. He doesn't seem to be as active as he usually is, and also his body looks swollen. DH thinks it is my imagination, but I don't. I did a water test and everything is good. No ammonia, or nitrates, Ph is...

Thanks Paperdragon for the advice. I thought 50 some fish were too many for my hexagon. I feel I am just about right, for now and if I lose any fish I will replace them. So far I have been lucky. The fish store did not tell me how big the clown loaches, sharks or the Pleco were going to get and that...

I have a male Betta, a female betta, 3 balloon mollies and 2 reg mollies, 4 Neons, 2 tetras and 3 male guppies (the ones with the gorgeous tales) and of course my 2 frogs. They keep telling me at the fish store that I have plenty of room for more fish. They have a chart and for my size aquarium, I t...

Thanks Paperdragon Wow, I am getting a little worried that I might have made a mistake by buying my Dojo since I have the 35 gal Hex. I kind of wanted to buy another one tomorrow, so this one had a buddy, but maybe I had better rethink that idea. I would love to have a bigger tank, but I don't have ...
