I strongly agree with Dianna. I have groups of 5 loaches in 3 of my tanks. . . and 14 loaches in my 4th.

The group of 14 is FAR more interesting than any of the quints.

I have 14 striata loaches in one of my 55s. I LOVE the dynamic of a larger "loach swarm." All my other loaches are in groups of 5, and the striata are by FAR more open and social. I attribute this to having a large community.

They grow pretty darn quick. . . IMO you shouldn't keep yoyos in a 10 for more than a month at most, if at all.

A good interim solution would be to get a 20gallon breeder tank. They're shorter than your 10 is, but wider and longer, but still small enough to fit on a dorm desk.

So there are some Striata loaches (labeled as botia lochata) at the local PetCo. . . in the UNHEATED GOLDFISH TANK.

This is my new 55 gallon loach/platy/rainbowfish tank. I happened across the Striata loaches at a local store mislabeled as green tigers for $3.5 At that price I couldn't resist buying out their stock of 14 fish.

My 'bows ate both the salmon and the turkey. Was amusing to watch them suck a string of turkey in, then spit the whole thing out, and repeat until it was worn down enough to swallow. Silly narrow throated fish.

My 90 gallon tank has 5 clown loaches, a ton of corycats, and about 30 various rainbows ...

You feed your fish cod, but not salmon because salmon is Oily? Must be atlantic salmon, since I've never encountered oily pacific salmon. Especially fresh caught. . .

And turkey is one of the lowest fat meats you can get. . . I doubt it would contribute more fat to the fish than any of the prepared ...

I was originally supposed to be "loach sitting" 6 loaches for a friend while he cycled up his 40b tank. Unfortunately for him, by the time his tank was cycled up, the loaches were so comfortable in my tank we couldn't bear to seperate them. Thus 14 striata loaches in my tank.

In general, clownies are not aggressive towards other fish.

However, as with any other animal, there is a LOT of individual variation. Further, the more crowded/stressful the tank is, the more likely they are to lash out.

Rainbows. When I can be arsed to do it I'll post some pictures of my various bows.

I run a 90 gallon with 5 clownies, FAR too many cories, and about 30 'bows. With the right lighting they're absolutely stunning.

I like the Praecox best, followed by the lucustra (Turquois rainbow).
