I don't do things, unless I've seen/known people doing it without an issues. I've been in the hobby for over 10 years and do allot of research and visit allot of forums. So when I do things, I know allot of other reputable people have done it also. Here's of the video of the angels and discus being ...

During the rainy season the rivers swell and leave their banks flooding the forest areas. The water often comes to the top of the trees. During the dry season the water slowly recedes and creates pockets of water outside of the river bank. So they swim during the currents. Well, I've dealt with ang...

The rams would be fine. Loaches are very nervous that the rams could easily chase them away. Unfortunately, it would be a different outcome if the rams were a mated pair. Then they may injure or kill any fish that come near their breeding area. The angels will be fine in current. They come from a ri...

I had clown loaches and angels for several years. The only experience I had was one of the smallest loaches was eating the scales off of one of my angels. I was alarmed to see the angels with some missing scales, until I saw the loach actually approach the angel and getting the scales. The strange t...

IMO, since loaches like current, they probably think they are swimming upstream when they swim towards the outlet of your filter (against the current). So they may have gotten damaged.

Just curious. What other fish are in the tank?

Clown loaches can reach about 12" or so, but that is out in the wild. I haven't known any clowns reaching that size in captivity. They do grow at a slow rate. Clown loaches do better in small groups. 1. Yes, a small group of 5. 2. Yes, even smaller, like sand. 3. If you have angels, rams, and tetras...

I wouldn't trust that thread, since it states.... 7. Some sources have said that temperatures above 86 degrees Fahrenheit alone will kill off the parasite .. Actually, most sources I've seen say temp above 88F or 89F, see for example: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/fish/notes_ich.html#temp These two...

Those who experienced the spots on their loaches, how long have you had them? I've had my loaches for a long time and I've never seen them with black spots. I watch my fish, especially my loaches daily. Most recently, I've been doing frequent (every 3-4 days) large WC (35%-45%) recently due to my di...

Do you mean, how come all of my loaches don't look like that? Actually, they do. Some eat more than others, but still are fed very well and fat.

I'm assuming that you are trying to get a planted tank as well, since you asked if it is acceptable for plant growth. IMO, De-Ionizer is really not necessary. You want some of the heavy metals in the water, which is what the plants require. Unless your water has high traces of ammonia, nitrites, or ...

True, but if a tank is well maintained, good filters, not overstocked, no overfeeding, etc. then you should have no problems. The problem with adjusting pH levels is if either too much or not enough buffer is added, causing big pH shifts, can be just as harmful to the fish.

That should be fine, but there's no need to reduce the pH, unless your's is extremely high in the first place.
