ICH treatments!!
I found my loach to have ICh the other week and have been using Interpet anti whitespot treatment BUt its not seemed to help at all. Ive heard that waterlife was much better. It says wait 48hrs before changing the medication over. I last dosed at 1.00 yesterday, if i do a 50% water chnage do you think i could dose today? Im getting so worried!!
Thanks for that but i already read it the other day and couldnt find out about changing from one med to another in there.
Think it would be best to wait 48hrs as it says on the bottle. Lucky their still in the quarentine tank!!!! Ive done all it said in that ICk part about 4 days ago and its still not going. Really think the med im using isnt that good espesialy at half dose. The new stuff ive got has got a lot of good feedabck so fingers crossed.

I wouldn't trust that thread, since it states....
As mentioned, there are several forums on treating ich (with or without salt use) here.
Which is incorrect statement. I've already mentioned, but nobody has corrected it. In fact, I originally replied to that topic, which was erased, then locked. So apparantely, out of millions of threads on ich on this and several forums regarding high temp only speeds up the life cycle of ich, the above thread states that high temp kills ich.7. Some sources have said that temperatures above 86 degrees Fahrenheit alone will kill off the parasite.. Actually, most sources I've seen say temp above 88F or 89F, see for example:
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/fish/notes_ich.html#temp
These two degrees make a difference, since at 86F not only one would not kill the parasite, one will make it reproduce faster. Maybe it is best to say that temp only cure is often just not a good idea.
IMO, using meds may stress and weaken the fish even more. Raising the temps and adding aquarium salt is safe for the fish and would aid in the healing process. As I mentioned, raising the temp speeds up the life cycle of ich. Salt can be used becuase ich cannot adjust to the change in salinity in the water, fish can.Hell Fire wrote:Thanks for that but i already read it the other day and couldnt find out about changing from one med to another in there.

Ive always been very dubiouse of using salt. And temp alone i know doesnt kill ICh just speeds up the cycle. I have my temp currently at 82/83 max and dot really want to push it much more.
I will be re-dosing them in the moring with the new stuff at half dose. 1drop per 2 gal instead of per 1gal. As i said this stuff is much better.
My LFS told me not to use salt when i asked and gave me the meds, he knows a lot up there and has helped a lot in the past. If this dont work then maybe salt is the only ansew. Can i add salt and med?
