Check the tails and refer to the pics in the profile comparing scitus and ctenocephalus and see what you think. That's usually the best way to determine what species you have. Is it possible you have both species?

I've had a pretty close look, and most of mine are almost certainly scitulus. However there is at least one which is shyer and darker and hangs out mostly at the back where I can't get a pic of him. He has very faint spots, hardly any colour in the dorsal fin and the caudal fin looks very much like stellatus.

I was over at my mate Joe's place this morning, he has three of these he picked up from Veba's two weeks ago (there were about 15 available at the time). One of them was exactly like my dark one, the other two appear to be scitulus as well.

So while I haven't seen all seven of mine at one time and don't expect to any time soon, I can say I have at least two species, 90% sure one is scitulus and 70% sure the other is stellatus.

Just went to Vebas. They had a single Gastromyzon (not sure which) in the peppermint bristelnose tank, about 6 more in the tank opposite that one but they were all on hold (white spot in tank), and another dozen or so out back. I went there with Joe who has two scitulus and a probable stellatus, he got two zebra-ish looking gatromyzons and two spotty ones (either scitulus or similar), I got three spottys and one zebra-like one.

Hopefully pics of the stripey one later, meanwhile one of the new spotties was peeking over a leaf just after I put him in. From here on I'll only ever see him on the glass.

We spoke to George BTW he's the only one that seems to know about the scooters.

Turns out at least one of the guys hanging out on the back pane that I thought was a stellatus is Gastromyzon zebrinus. Also one of the new guys I got yesterday loks like zebrinus too. You can see why they like the back glass: It's dark (95% tint), and I never clean off the algae. Evidence of good eating trailing from the second guy, and he's been in the tank for about 18 hours.

Can't get a decent shot of them back there unfortunately...

I want to see more pics of this fish.
I have some with stripes that I am trying to identify. I would like to see if they look like yours.
I, too, am having a very difficult time taking pics of them.

Why I think this guy is Gastromyzon scitulus

He finally jumped off the front glass and posed on a leaf perfectly (except for the disinclination to spread the fins).

1. There are three large spots, evenly spaced in a line directly behind the dorsal.
2. There are distinctive yellow-orange patches on the dorsal
3. Overall spotting is larger
