I`ve never noticed before but 2 of my 4" Clown Loaches have black freckles from their nose to their dorsel. Maybe i`ve just never paid that much attention to their coloration before but i`m not sure the freckles have alwsys been there.

Could it be they`re now eating the Discus food that gets left behind? They`re all very fat and healthy but i`m not sure of the freckles ( looks like pepper ).

Hi MaryJ, yes a few people have reported these freckles on their Clowns in the past. It just seems to be concentrations of melanophores within the skin.
Maybe your lights are too bright and they need sunblock?
