New Kuhli

I'd mentioned before that I was adopting a kuhli from a guy in our local fish club. At one point there'd been a group of them, but this is the lone survivor, and he's been living alone for the better part of seven years. We finally picked him up, and we introduced him to our group of five last week.

Here he is:

He's interacted a little with the others, but he definitely isn't totally integrated into the group. It's like he's on his own schedule - he'll dance when no one else is, and be hidden when they're out dancing. And he doesn't come out for meal times. But I often find him resting side by side with one or two others.

I had posted before about my sids - I have a group of young ones, and added an older one that had lived alone. It took several months, but she's finally 'in the group.' I'm hoping this guy will come out of his shell a bit more too.

Wild markings! 8) It will no doubt take him time to settle in to his new home and get to know the tankmates, feeding schedule etc etc.

Glad to hear that the new Y. sidthimunki is doing well with your others. :D

I really like him. I'm glad he's in your tank with friends again. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Lovely Kuhli! The markings are really nice.
I'm willing to bet that with some more time getting adjusted to his new home, he will definetly overcome his timid behaviour.
I am a Weather Loach person, and I find when I introduce new ones to my aquarium, thay are the same way. Very passive at first, (although one of them did not require ANY time whatsoever; he just fit right in) and apprehensive around meal time. With several of mine, it took them a couple of days to adjust before they will dash out to eat with the others.
You have yourself a wonderful new addition there, he is gorgeous. Best of luck with him!
