Hello
My name is April. I think i know a few faces around here. I have used this site for referencing a lot of information, actually, but since the only loach I personally own at this moment is two dojo's loaches, I have never felt a need to post...
however, i suddenly feel like some of you here may be able to tell me, being the loach lovers you are... I am wondering if anyone else, other then that article about them being spawned in a store sump, has bred them. I have a baby forlicking in my tank, right now.... bugger grew almost half an inch in two days.

I have a yoyo that still had its yoyo markings one night but the next night it was starting to reticulate.
That yoyo started off as a 2" lil guy with me and just exploded to 4" in a matter of months.
Feed that little guy a lot and keep changing the water and before you know it, BOOM! hes big.

Hello mama!
:-*
you really are everywhere, hehe.
I didn't actually mean for this to happen. All of it was honestly sort of a mistake, other them a enormous colder water change...
But it was really easy. Has anyone tried to do this before?

Hi April,
Welcome to Loaches Online, and congratulations!
Apart from the breeding I documented here from Maidenhead Aquatics @ Lincoln, I know only of one other successful spawning and that was by renowned fish breeder Sallie Boggs who is known to have bred quite a few loach species.
We think our spawning happened soon after the fish arrived with us from a shipment from Singapore. We acclimatise very gradually and carefully, but these fish went into tanks with likely a much higher flow rate than their holding pools over in Singapore, and the fish systems at the shop receive at least 2 large water changes daily. I think a slightly cooler change coupled with the higher flow rate triggered these mature specimens into spawning soon after arrival.

Waterchange, yup. And the java moss. Java moss is a fish aphrodisiac - or at least it's like a nursery.

Do the fish say, "Look, honey, I just redid the kids' room, now lets make some kids to round it out" ?

So cool
