Here is a quick shot of a new camcorder we got for the holidays. Its a sony dcr-sr82. So far so good even in low light situations. Going to have to learn it a bit more but for now here is a video of the striatas eating some algae wafers in rock land.

Rock Land- is what we call this area of our tank....

The sand is blue from a meth blue treatment. It dyed the sand but turned out kind of cool looking. The loaches love it so far. Had a mass plant death. The plants were removed from the tank prior to treatment but didn't make it in the bucket for the cycle. Poor plants. No other plants like this to be found within 25 mile lfs radius.

if this one isn't working ill have to fix it tommorow.

Here is spot. Its very low light situation so this is the worst video it gets on low light. caught destroying the plant red finned!

Nice chubby striatas. And it looks like Spot has a real taste for her veggies. 8)

As for the sand--have you tried stirring a small section of it? I'm wondering if it is that barely blue color all the way to the bottom, or is it mainly the surface?

Yes Shari, I recently cleaned the entire tank and did a massive sand construction operation that made the loaches happy afterwards! Also, she destroyed the plants in one day! lol...poor plants.

Those are excellent vids, LO. 8) 8) 8)

The B. striata all look so healthy and happy, and I think the vid showing Spot snipping off the plant stems should be kept on here somewhere so that we can refer to it when people ask about loaches destrying plants!

Thanks LO. :D I don't think we are able to host videos on-site here (as yet), but it would be handy if you kept this somewhere permanent(ish) so that when the need arises, we can send people to the link to view your vid. One day, I hope to catch Marge & some of the other 'biggies' bulldozing mother plants on video, but alas, so far, they tend to do it when the lights in the tank are off......
