Hi everyone,
I have a pair of bristlenose plecos in the tank where the Sids live. I was wondering if you think my sids will eat any baby bristlenose plecos that may hatch out in that tank?

Depending on your tank size and decor, i couldn't give you a definite answer but the chances are that they will eat/hunt out eggs and fry.

DITTO to what graeme said, when ancistrus are first born the biggest part of them is their yolk sac, pure nectar to any fish.

I know the male pleco won't let any fish near the cave opening until he's ready to let the babies out and that's usually a week after they hatch so the egg sack is long gone. But I'm thinking the way those sids love to suck down frozen BW, any baby plecos are gonna look like bloodworms to the sids!

Even after the yolk sac is gone the sid's will do enough damage to them baby bristlies to kill them, when I got my first 10 I housed some 1 month old bristlies in with them to keep any algae growth down and they didn't last a week
At first I lost two and thought it could have been stress from the move a day later another two were dead and I noticed nip marks on all the others which all died even after they were removed from the tank, anything small and wriggly is investigated extensively.

Thanks for the info MadDuff. Exactly what I was looking to find out. I didn't see how they'd be able to tell a tiny fish from a yummy bloodworm.
